First, all materials contaminated by active mold growth are removed from the building. This may include drywall, molding, insulation, or heavily contaminated contents. All removal is performed while operating HEPA air scrubbers, which filter 99.97% of airborne particulates from the air. Once these contaminated materials are removed, any affected structural materials (studs, joists, decking and rafters) are then cleaned by sanding, wire brushing, HEPA vacuuming, and/or dry ice blasting. All HVAC ductwork and systems are also professionally cleaned.
AQS will then apply its non-toxic, non corrosive, anti-microbial treatment throughout the entire structure. The treatment is applied as a dry fog to insure maximum reach and contact time, By treating the entire building, Air Quality Sciences insures that not only allergenic mold spores, but also mycotoxins and volatile organic compounds throughout the building are also addressed. This process also treats the contents of the home, virtually eliminating costly replacement of furniture, clothing, and other items.
This advanced method goes far beyond the activities associated with traditional remediation companies, which only address the localized, affected area. This treatment is not a biocide, but an advanced solution which breaks down the protein component of the mold and renders it inert and non-allergenic. Some biocides and other chemicals, such as bleach, can actually cause a mold to have a defensive reaction and spore off, causing a severe amplification of the problem and increasing contamination.
Once the treatment portion of the process is complete, all horizontal surfaces are wiped down to remove any dried surfactant (a harmless detergent component of the solution which allows for maximum contact time). All cleaning is performed utilizing all natural or “green” products, as not to introduce chemicals to the newly decontaminated environment.
